Travelling from Budapest, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county can be reached on the M3 highway. The extension of highway M3 towards the Ukraine and Romania will be constructed in the near future which will strengthen the function of the county as a springboard toward the markets of the East and as a gateway between the West and the East. The beneficial location of the county, namely that it shares borders with Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine, allows logistics to become an engine of growth, a diversified manufacturing mix and the presence of a number of multinational companies committed to engaging in local R&D are among the region’s strengths. In Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county 62% of the registered enterprises are provided by the agricultural, forestry and fishing industries. The spatial distribution of operating enterprises within the county shows the dominance of the county seat and the area of larger cities.
Nyíregyháza with its nearly 120,000 inhabitants has an international importance and influence as it is situated at the eastern border of the EU and along important traffic routes. (optical)/. The major service areas are logistics, finance, real estate development, commerce and tourism.
The Nyíregyháza Industrial Park is completely supplied with public utilities, it is situated in a very advantageous location from the aspect of logistics: it is only 1.5 km from motorway M3, along the railway connecting the two neighbouring countries.

The region is characterised by the presence of heavy construction and transport companies as well as military equipment manufacturers. Moreover, the Świętokrzyskie is characterised by a tradition in metallurgy, ceramics and masonry. In addition, rich natural resources promote the production of cement and plaster. The Świętokrzyskie is famous for the largest construction companies in Poland, which prepare and implement projects across the country. Another relevant economic factor in the region is the presence of the Special Economic Zone “Starachowice” SA. in Starachowice (Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency 2017). Agriculture plays also an important role in the regional economy as favourable weather and fertile soil create excellent conditions for agricultural development. In the Świętokrzyskie region the headquarters are seated of large companies such as Kolporter sp. z o.o. (logistics), Celsa Huta Ostrowiec sp. z o.o. (steel manufacturing), Elektrownia Połaniec (energy supply) or NSG (Pilkington) (automotive).
