On March 14, a conference entitled “Energy security in the Three Seas area” was held in the auditorium of the Social and Economic Institute of the Zamość University. The main topics discussed at the conference included energy security, gas networks of influence in Central Europe, the importance of infrastructure in the supply of energy raw materials and the development of nuclear energy.
The issue of energy security is critical in the context of war and turbulence on the energy market. Geopolitical changes influence the transformation of the understanding of this sphere of security in the modern world as one of the key ones. Our area, the Three Seas, is the closest to all these changes. We are most exposed to the threats related to these changes and war. The cooperation initiative in the Three Seas area can be a platform that can help us solve various types of problems, especially those related to the construction of energy infrastructure. Every opportunity for such a partnership must be exploited. The only chance to increase resilience to energy threats is to act at every level, including: by diversifying supplies of raw materials from different regions. In addition, we should discuss new solutions such as hydrogen policy or the development of nuclear energy, which may make us more resistant to threats in the field of energy security – said Dr. Hab. Justyna Misięwicz from the Department of National Security of the Zamość University.
